Richard J. Bolte, Jr. joined BDP International in 1973.  During his 30-year career with the company he has held positions covering a broad range of the firm’s operations in global logistics and transportation.

Rich earned a BS Degree from Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, Maryland and has attended various management development programs, including the Wharton Business School and The Center for Creative Leadership.

His formative experience at BDP centered on ocean exports and supply chain management, with particular emphasis on company operations. Rich was Vice President of the company’s Northeast Region before taking the position of Chief Operating Officer.  In 1996, he was named President of BDP International.

In 1997, during his first year as president, BDP’s dedication to excellence resulted in the company being named a recipient of the President’s E-Award for Excellence in Exporting, the highest US award for American exporters.  In 2009, BDP was awarded the prestigious President’s E Star Award for Export Service.

In 2006, Rich was named CEO following the passing of his father Richard J. Bolte, Sr. BDP’s Founder and Chairman, and in 2013, Rich was named Chairman of the Board.

Over the past decade, Rich has been instrumental in the strategic development of BDP’s Global Network of wholly-owned subsidiaries and joint ventures in the Pacific Rim, Canada, Mexico, the U.K. South America, the Middle East and Europe.  Under his leadership during the past five years, BDP acquired logistics firms in Germany, France, Belgium, and Italy; formed a strategic partnership in Japan; a joint venture in Qatar; and opened offices in China, Dubai, Korea and The Netherlands.  In 2005, BDP acquired The Elite Group, a Houston-based logistics firm specializing in the chemical industry.

He has been a champion in facilitating an organizational environment that is enabling BDP to invest and migrate to a unified, web-based operational infrastructure platform, which will support all of the company’s core operations, information value application tools and back-office functions.

With a keen sense of the changing dynamics of the logistics business environment, Rich led the establishment of an independent supply chain-consulting unit.  Under the name Centrx, a BDP knowledge venture, the firm brings a diverse portfolio of strategic skill-sets to meet the growing demand for Lead Logistics Provider services and other process analyses and network design expertise among multi-national enterprises.

He serves on the boards of Mount St. Mary’s College, the National Committee for International Trade and the Chemical Heritage Foundation, is a Past President of the World Trade Association of Philadelphia, and a member of the Council of Logistics Management.
