Is your bunny neutered? If not, that's definitely the first step. He's just showing normal aggression that any hormone-soaked bunny (or any mammal) will tend to show when he feels his territory (or personal space) has been invaded.

Check your own body language. Rabbits generally consider a frontal approach (e.g. tapping the ground right in front of his nose or reaching directly for his face from the front) to be an act of aggression, since this is the way rabbits challenge each other. A dominat rabbit (which may be what yours is!) will generally crouch down for a subordinate rabbit to groom his head, so if you approach slowly from above, he is less likely to be aggressive.

Check the circumstances under which he growls and boxes. From what direction are you approaching? Where is he (in his hutch, or running loose? In a corner, or in an open space?)? What is he doing at the time? The answers to these will help you pinpoint his motives and be better able to avoid "offending" his delicate rabbit sensibilities about his person.
