Steve’s singing career began as Chorister and Head Chorister at his parish church, then later studied with the mezzo-soprano Pamela Bowden. soprano Wendy Eathorne and tenor Edwin Rolles. He has won over 30 first prizes in competitive music festivals, including the Sabine Meyen-Jessel Young Singer award three years in succession and the Four Voices Solo competition at the Rhymney Valley Eisteddfod.
Steve has given many recitals, and has performed at venues in Germany, at the London Palladium, Christchurch Priory, Guildford Cathedral, Portsmouth Guildhall and Farnborough Abbey, to name but a few. As a tenor soloist he is known, and in demand for, performances of sacred and secular works, English art song and lieder and many other styles.
Steve is a professional musician who teaches singing and piano to all levels and genres – specialising in beginners of all ages.
Steve is the Musical Director of the Rushmoor Male Voice Choir. directing them not only at home but also in Germany, various cathedrals and for several appearances at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the London Welsh Festival of Male Voices. He is also the Musical Director of the Hants & Surrey NHS Choir, the Crondall Community Choir and the Kindred Spirits Choir – a choir solely dedicated to breast cancer patients and survivors. He was the founding Musical Director of the Aldershot Military Wives Choir and is also the Deputy Festival Director of the Bournemouth Festival of Male Voices. Most recently Steve has been appointed Musical Director of Alton Choral Society .
